I was born in London in 1969 but grew up in Australia, where I experimented with a range of occupations including composer, violinist, waitress and motorcycle mechanic. Eventually I took up robotics and computer science, which brought me to Cambridge as a graduate student in 1995.
I now live in beautiful Perthshire, where I work as a freelance writer and moonlight as the co-director of a software and consultancy company. I've been writing poems since 1997, and received an Eric Gregory Award in 1998. My first collection, Tails, was published by Bloodaxe in 2004, and my second collection Perfect Blue (also Bloodaxe) was published in March 2010.
Since moving to Scotland I've definitely become the outdoor type, and do lots of running and hillwalking. I have a variety of creative interests, and you can find out more about these at my personal website, thingwright.
